If you want something you’ve never had before, you’ve got to be willing to do things you’ve never done before.

Now, it may sound cliché – that if you want something you’ve never had, that you’ve got to do different stuff. But it’s not cliché, if it’s the absolute the truth.

Years ago I had a business and it wasn’t doing very well.

In fact I had to get a job to support my business habit. Now people usually laugh at that, that I had a business habit – but wasn’t very funny, to me…

At the time I owned a boat and I worked out of the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida and I owned my own water sports business… and I was so proud of myself – except I was going broke.

So every day I would have to run my boat… and then at the end of the day, I’d take a shower on the beach (so I didn’t stink) and then, I would run across the street and wait tables all night.

Just to make a few extra bucks so I could pay my rent, so I could pay my bills, so I could run my business.
And it wasn’t until I had being doing that for almost eight months that I was finally willing to go out and do something different in my business. To make a change. I was like, “This has got to stop! I am killing myself!”

I would challenge you that you have got to figure it out… What’s that leverage that’s going to go ahead and get you to do that weird stuff… and to do it when it doesn’t feel comfortable, because anytime you start doing something new – it doesn’t feel right?

You go to play a guitar for the first time… and you are trying to put your fingers on the strings and – it doesn’t feel right.

Or the first you rode a bike, or anytime you do something for the first time… it feels weird – it feels awkward.

For some reason as adults we think well if it doesn’t feel good, then I am not going to do it. But that’s exactly the opposite of what you need to succeed in anything.

And in any EVERY business I’ve EVER been in since then, and with EVERY client I’ve ever had… the key ingredient for their success; to take their business and their life to the next level… was to:
Get comfortable – being uncomfortable.

To doing that thing that was different… The thing that was challenging… Maybe the stuff that they didn’t want to do … But to actually go out and – do it.

So I challenge you to go out in your own greatness quest – and do what’s different. To do what feels weird, awkward and uncomfortable…

So that you can take your business and your life to the next level.

Remember whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger so as long as you can look up, you can get up.

So eyes up! Chest up! Step up! Go out and take your business and your life to the next level, and I’ll see you again next week!
